car maintenance

Buying a car is a dream of many individuals and so was mine! A couple of months before, I bought a new car. I used my life’s savings to buy this car, but started developing wear and tear within a very short span of time. The ignition was not responding properly and the vehicle started giving less mieage. I had no option but to hire the services of a car mechanic and get the car inspected. This of course, took a toll on my pocket. However, the car mechanic was kind enough to not only inspect my car but also provided me a checklist so as to how to extend the longevity of the car. He said that would I been a little careful about maintaining the car, I would not have to shell out the considerable amount. The checklist that he provided had a list of guidance on how to save a car from taking its last breath too soon.

Let us here take a quick look at some of those guidance (provided by the car repair) in order to extend the longevity of the car.

Car Maintenance – Tips and Tricks:

Maintain the engine: Since engine is the most important element of the car, special attention should be given to it in order to maintain the car and extend its longevity. Whenever I take a plunge into inspecting or maintaing my car, I first take a look at the engine. I make it a point to change the engine oil and oil filter in the car, at least once in a week by following the manufacturer’s manual. This helps my car preventing wear and tear in the engine. I also check out the transmission fluid level on a regular basis and refill it about every 30,000 miles or so.

Check out the tires: Tires are the ones that your vehicles would run on and hence, special care should be taken of them. I ensure to check out the tires, at least once in a week or so to determine if there is any wear and tear on them. If I find any damage occurred to them, I get them repaired or replaced immediately. I aslo check out whether the tires are properly inflated or not. My car mechanic once told me that driving a car on under-inflated tires can reduce the mileage and affect the overall performance of the car, minimizing its longevity.

Buy gas from a reputed station: My car mechanic suggested me to buy the gas from a reputed service station. I always ensure that the gas I buy is filtered at the pump and the station has a policy about changing the pump filters on a regular basis. If I find anything suspicious about the station, I immediately look for another one. While some stations do not mix alcohol and fuel properly, others water down the product.

Regular inspection: Performing regular inspection is one of the ideal ways to add on some life to your car. Since my car mechanic suggested me some handy tips on car inspection, I can easily perform this job on my own. When inspecting a car, I pay special attention to the exterior body surface of the vehicle, the accessories, the engine and many others. However, if you are unable to perform the vehicle inspection on your own, hire the services of a vehicle inspection such as B & D Industrial, who would perform the task on your behalf with ultimate commitment, skills and/or expertise.

These are some of the important guidelines that would immensely help you extend the longevity of the car.
